Cons of Hosted Blog Platforms

Here are the disadvantages of Hosted Blog Platforms:
1. Less Configurable: It is limited in terms of features and ability to design a professional running blog. This means that it is limited options for customization. This does vary from platform to platform within the hosted options.
2. Default Design Limitations: Many hosted blogs end up looking very similar to one another, which means the default templates get used over and over again.
3. Less Control: There is no ultimate control over your blog.
4. Generic URL: They say that having your own URL can give a sense of professionalism.

Hosted Blog Platforms

What is a hosted blog platform? This is the type of blog that are easy and quite cheap. The most popular of this system is Blogger.com. Others include WordPress.com and MSN Spaces and TypePad– although have the option to go with a type of standalone option also through remote hosting.

It is called ‘hosted’ blog platforms because they ‘host’ your blog on their own domain. It offers pretty easy set up process as they will give you a web address (URL) that will usually be some combination of their own URL and the name of your blog. The structure of the address has two elements, his blog’s name first and then the host like wordpress.com extension. This means that this blog is being ‘hosted’ by WordPress as opposed to the blogger having to organize and pay for that himself.

Capable of Blogging?

There are some blog platforms and set ups that will be much more suited to your needs than if you know a few of the basics, or at least are willing to learn them. This is good news for those who have no experience in creating a blog or website before. There is also an option where you can hire a person who is good at creating blogs. One of the great things about blogging and most of the platforms out there is that there is a wonderful communal knowledge out there and many forums dedicated to helping people get the most out of their chosen platforms.

Plan When You Blog

Planning is a good practice in order to succeed. I must ask you, “What will you do when your readership doubles? How are you going to handle getting hundreds of emails per day? How will you respond to comments? How do you see your platform evolving over the next year, 2, or even 5?” Well, these are some of the questions that you need to address early and often. Your plan might not be perfect, but at least you’ll have a direction to head.

Blogs’ Consistency Gain Trust

I believed that consistency always gain trust! When I looked back through my archives, I was disappointed and embarrassed with my casual attitude I took with my blog. I must be consistent in posting. I must keep 3 posts per week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. And I must narrow the topics of my content that my reader would keep following and reading. Always remember that when you change topic all the time will make your readers confuse and scare them away!

Narrow Your Niche

When you blog, you try to narrow your niche. Well it took me a kong time to understand it because I thought that by covering a bunch of topics would attract more people to my blog. However, there is a problem with that strategy that when you attract new visitors, you throw them off if your content is not consistent. Then, your visitors will wind up leaving and you will have to recruit new readers again and again. Therefore you must try fishing with a spear instead.
